The First Generation + Resource Center Assistant Director provides outreach, support, coaching, and advocacy for marginalized students (e.g., first-generation students, students of color, undocumented students and students of modest economic backgrounds). The Assistant Director is responsible for providing co-curricular educational activities and intercultural leadership opportunities for campus community members within a social justice framework and has student staff oversight responsibilities, which includes but is not limited to: coordination of hiring, training and supervision as well as evaluation of performance. This extends to serving as a resource person for information, referrals and advocacy on behalf of marginalized students. This position will provide leadership and coordination to the Lawton Scholars Program, a student success and retention initiative. The Assistant Director will co-coordinate assessment efforts as they relate to the department, division and university missions and values. This position will advance institutional investment in intercultural and social justice education.Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree or higher granted on or before December 31, 2024At least 1 year of professional work or internship/practicum experience in an educational setting working directly with studentsPreferred Qualifications

A Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Non-Profit Management, Organizational Leadership, Social Justice Education, Social Work or related fieldExperience working with marginalized and underrepresented student populationsExperience managing student staff, part-time staff and/or volunteersExperience planning, coordinating, and implementing programs and eventsEvidence of an in-depth knowledge of intersectionality and intercultural program developmentEvidence of a commitment to diversity within higher education as a conduit for cultural growth and learningDemonstrated ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and foster mutually-beneficial working relationships with diverse constituencies, including but not limited to students, parents, faculty, staff, campus leadership and external entitiesTarget Salary Range
