Under the direction of the Special Counsel of the Office of Special Counsel, the Attorney researches and analyzes matters that fall under the purview of the Office of the Special Counsel (OSC). The OSC handles special projects and Commissioner initiatives, and the Attorney will support legal matters in this regard. In conjunction with Staff Services Manager II, the Attorney will be responsible for assisting with oversight of national insurance issues raised through the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The Attorney, in conjunction with the Attorney IV, assists the Office of Special Counsel with legal analyses, research and the review of proposed decisions from administrative law judges, and supporting the Commissioner’s regulatory initiatives. The Attorney will assist in analyzing government ethics matters concerning the Political Reform Act. The Attorney works independently, with moderate supervision, and assists in the review of confidential or sensitive legal matters.Occasional travel may be required within and/or outside the state of California via private or public transportation (e.g., automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include overnight stay.Working Conditions

Eligible for telework in accordance with CDIs telework policy and Government Code 14200.This position can be office-centered or telework-centered in accordance with CDI’s Telework Policy. Though it may vary month by month, in-person attendance is generally required once or twice per month for certain meetings and events.Position may be headquartered in Los Angeles, Oakland or Sacramento.Must be able to work in a high-rise building.Will be required to communicate verbally both in person and over the telephone.Daily use of computer keyboard, mouse, camera for virtual meetings, office equipment.Lift, carry, or otherwise transport documents to meetings and other public appearances.Position Details
