Overview

Due to continued growth, TRC Field Services (FSV) is seeking more

Test Technicians

to support our Client Teams across the United States with emphasis in the CA market.With a staff of over 200 experienced utility and industrial commissioning engineers and test technicians, TRC delivers comprehensive, cost-effective solutions safely to our Electric Utility Customers while providing the best training programs and mentors in this industry and numerous opportunities for growth with excellent benefits.Test Technicians

report to the Regional Manager, Testing and Commissioning Services and are responsible for conducting tests on complex electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment.

Test Technicians

test electrical equipment including but not limited to: power transformers, protective relays, circuit breakers, control and supervisory equipment, voltage regulators and other equipment within an electric utility substation, generating stations, or industrial plants.

Responsibilities

Understand and utilize the latest industry testing and commissioning standards and guidelines such as IEEE and NETA.Provide high level customer service, consistently delivering quality services and maintaining a highly professional and respectful relationship with clients.Promote efficient flow of information and ensure complete and accurate record keeping.Perform advanced troubleshooting and problem analysis associated with protection and control systems and utility substation equipment.Provide support in areas of high technical complexity and serve as technical reviewer on assigned projects.Participate in project meetings including kickoff meetings, planning meetings, and lessons learned meetings.Identify risks and associated mitigation techniques on utility systems and equipment.Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and project completion reports and documentation.Ensure proper project drawing management and general housekeeping is kept onsite at all times.Make certain all applicable tests and/or commissioning activities are performed on every piece of equipment or system.Assist other engineers and technicians during commissioning and startup of systems and equipment.Conduct TRC’s formal walkdown procedure prior to energizing any equipment.Familiarity with Microprocessor Relays and Electromechanical and Solid State Relays.Setup, tune, program audio tone equipment.Examples of Equipment to be tested include SF6/Oil/Vacuum Breakers, Circuit Switchers, Power Transformers, and more.Examples of tests to be performed include SF6 Gas, Oil Sampling, Insulation Resistance, and more.

Qualifications

Associate Degree in a technical field with a minimum of 3+ years of testing & commissioning experience within electric utilities or complex commercial & industrial power plants.Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment as well as independently.Intermediate knowledge of electrical protection systems and understanding of AC and DC schematics.Analyze and effectively utilize drawings in the commissioning and/or testing process.Advanced testing of medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment.Testing and commissioning knowledge of substation utility protection and control circuits.Utilize TRC’s Testing and Commissioning standard documentation policies.Understand project requirements including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.Familiarity with Company’s drawing system, ANSI Standards, and National Electric Safety Code.Must be available for out-of-town travel and flexible hours.Excellent verbal and written skills.Good PC skills and experience with Adobe and Microsoft programs.U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status required.Valid USA driver’s license in good standing.Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds of test equipment routinely.Benefits:

Salary Range
