This is your opportunity to be part of our dynamic team and help shape the future of affordable housing!Position Overview:The Staff Accountant uses strong technical accounting skills and solid communication skills to be the ‘standard setter’ for accurate financial reporting. The Staff Accountant is responsible for the daily recording and posting of financial activity, both routine and non-routine, for Bellwether’s non-profit operations and its portfolio of 35+ buildings. This role supports the General Ledger Accountants and Controller – Non-Profit Operations with key deliverables.Your Impact:Oversee revenue billing system, assist with troubleshooting, and account analysis.Initiate and complete processing of accounting transactions and routine closing processes for timely and reliable monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.Reconcile Property Management sub-ledgers, investigate reconciling items and provide reliable reports.Produce reliable and timely internal management reports for Bellwether administration and Board of Directors, partners, and the clients we serve.Assist month-end and year-end closing processes including analyzing, correcting accounts, preparing schedules, documenting for year-end partnership tax and GAAP accounting as well as the annual Bellwether and Affiliates audit.Assist with annual budgeting process to assure timely and accurate reporting of actual versus budget.Coordinate collections process for former resident accounts receivable for maximum recovery from former tenants.Special projects to support the Senior Accountant, as assigned.Requirements:Who You Are:Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field.2+ years’ general ledger accounting experience (all major transaction cycles).Experience with general ledger analysis and reconciliation.Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.Working knowledge of ERP systems (general ledger modules).Proven ability to manage multiple projects.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Advanced Excel skills including data file uploads/downloads.Desired Qualifications:Accounting experience with a real estate organization that builds and operates properties.Non-profit accounting experience.Accounting experience in consolidations and intercompany eliminations.Experience with Yardi Voyager (general ledger modules).What We Offer:Bellwether Housing is your platform for growth, empowerment, and purpose.
