New Jersey Institute for Disabilities, NJID has an immediate opening for a Controller who is well-versed in all aspects of accounting and overall financial operations. Reporting to the President, the controller is accountable for the organization's financial strategy to improve the overall financial health as well as maintaining full compliance with all the applicable regulations.

As the Controller, you will provide a wide range of support, including:
  • Direct, control, coordinate and plan the work activities of the Financial Services department & staff.
  • Monitor funding and cash flow projections of the organization.
  • Oversee budgeting and implementation of budgets; monitor progress and present operational metrics both internally and externally.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger and Financial Statement Production.
  • Ensure financial systems and controls are in place.
  • Heavy emphasis on detailed payroll and benefits processing, reconciliation work and reporting & coordinating with Human Resources.
  • Develop/review all accounting policies & procedures & agency computerization & automation needs.
  • Develop implementation strategies for finance & operations in rapidly changing funding environment.
  • Manage all internal and external financial and regulatory audit activities.
  • Responsible for final oversight of general ledger, budgeting, tax reporting combined with multiple external reporting requirements.
  • Superior communication and Excel skills required with general knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Reports directly to the President with monthly financial analysis and presents directly to the Board of Directors.

The professional we seek must possess the following:
  • Master's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field from an accredited institution or
  • A standard school business administrator's certificate issued pursuant to N.J.A.C 6A:9B-12.7, or a CPA certificate or
  • Bachelor's degree with a valid NJ CPA License


The New Jersey Institute for Disabilities (NJID) offers specialized programs and support throughout the State of New Jersey for infants, children and adults with developmental and related disabilities. With a dedicated staff of more than 500 employees, in 41 program sites throughout the state, NJID is one of the largest not-for-profit agencies of its kind in the nation. Each year, more than 1500 infants, children and adults with disabilities and their families are helped by NJID's unique continuum of services.
