The Atlantic Veterinary Internal Medicine & Oncology (AVIM&O) in Annapolis, MD is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our outstanding team!Overview:AVIM&O is a highly specialized internal medicine & oncology practice with three locations in central Maryland: Annapolis, Hunt Valley, and Columbia. Our practices are co-located within Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center, and we provide best in class veterinary medical care for patients with chronic conditions like Addison’s, Cushings, gastrointestinal issues, renal failure, cancer, and more.Additionally, our techs work hand in hand with our veterinary specialists to communicate with clients, referring veterinary practices, and pharmacies.Our practice regularly utilizes the following specialized procedures:UltrasonographyEndoscopyColonoscopyRhinoscopy scopingChemotherapy administrationAdvanced nursing and hospitalization techniquesAVIM&O also has access to advanced imaging such as MRI and CT. Growth opportunities within our practice exist for candidates who evolve their clinical skills and provide excellent client/patient care.Responsibilities:Work side-by-side with our board certified Veterinary Oncologists treating cancers like osteosarcoma, lymphoma, melanoma, and many more.Taking detailed histories, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, chemotherapy infusions, and record keeping.Have an eye for detail, follow through, and enjoy creating a bond with patients and clients.Provide exceptional oncologic care to our patients and exceed chemotherapy safety standards.Use communication and problem-solving skills combined with clinical knowledge to be a passionate patient advocate.Responsible for exceptional client and patient care, and client education.Provide safe and low-stress pet restraint.Maintain hospital cleanliness.Run in-house lab work.Must be professional, trustworthy, punctual, and love working in a specialty environment!Have a high level understanding of drug calculations and prescription calculations and be prepared to assist owners with refills and medication questions.Take detailed patient histories and provide pertinent information to the attending veterinarian.
