Postdoctoral Position in Peptides, Nanoparticles, and Drug Delivery

A postdoctoral position is available to participate in a collaborative research program funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under the supervision of William Wimley, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Join our interdisciplinary team, which spans the fields of biotechnology and bioengineering, with foundations in chemistry, cell biology, and biophysics. We are focused on developing pH-responsive nanopore-forming peptide nanoparticles for the delivery of protein cargoes to cells. Our research emphasizes the use of synthetic molecular evolution, cell biology, peptide chemistry, and membrane biophysics. Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator William Wimley, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking translational research in biotechnology.

Job duties

Expand a collaborative, productive, NIH-funded research program devoted to the development of pH-responsive nanopore-forming peptide nanoparticles for drug delivery applications. Applicant will work independently within a supportive, enthusiastic, and collaborative team environment to carry out transformative science and publish high-impact papers. Applicant will contribute to the preparation and submission of papers related to research and will present results at external scientific meetings. Applicant will also participate in laboratory upkeep, maintenance of laboratory equipment, safety activities, and train and supervise graduate students working on related projects.

Qualifications

· A Ph.D. degree in a field related to Biomedical Sciences, including Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Chemical Engineering, or another related field is required.

· A record of peer-reviewed publications is required.

· Experience in cell culture techniques, confocal microscopy, or flow cytometry is an advantage.

· Experience working with lipids and peptides is an advantage.

· Experience with HPLC, membrane biophysics, fluorescence spectroscopy, and circular dichroism spectroscopy is an advantage.

Salary

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
