The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.Position Summary:

This position is in the Office of the Attorney General within the Statewide Prosecution Unit in Fort Myers, Florida.Pay:

$90,846.08 AnnuallyQualifications:Membership in the Florida Bar.Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and three (3) years of criminal trial law experience.Preference given to candidates with Criminal Prosecution experience.The Work You Will Do:

Specific duties and responsibilities include:Reviewing and evaluating evidence for prosecution of criminal cases.Submitting all necessary data and recommendations to the Chief Assistant for intake decisions to accept or reject cases for prosecution.Advising and assisting the investigating agency in the completion of investigations and preparation of cases for prosecution.Making charging decisions based on all relevant and material factors available, in consultation with the Bureau Chief Assistant.Establishing contact and coordination with other divisions within the Department of Legal Affairs, or other law enforcement or regulatory agencies.Preparing and filing charging instruments.Coordinating the surrender or arrest of criminal defendants on the charges filed.Representing the State at bond hearings.Determining the scope of discoverable materials and ensuring compliance with applicable discovery requirements.Representing the State in pre-trial motion practice and at all calendar calls of the court.Representation of the State at trial on the charges.Representation of the State at post-trial hearings and sentencing proceedings.Establishing and maintaining contact with the Assistant Attorney General assigned to handle appellate matters.Requesting the recovery of the costs associated with the prosecution.Conducting and memorializing post-case review sessions with the investigating agencies.Participating in the Statewide Grand Jury process under the direct supervision of the Statewide Prosecutor.Following established policies and procedures regarding the operation of the Statewide Grand Jury.Attending and participating in local, regional, and statewide investigative intelligence meetings and task forces.Maintaining proper documentation, according to Office policy, or all work performed.Assisting the Statewide Prosecutor in the formulation of legislative priorities for criminal justice reform.Properly representing the Office through courteous, professional and ethical conduct and demeanor at all times.Maintaining continued professional development in the legal field.Traveling, as required, to perform the investigative, litigation, and training functions of the Office.The Benefits of Working for the State of Florida:
