Assistant General Manager Equipment/Rail Rolling Stock (AGMRE)The AGMRE is a direct report to the GM and has the principal responsibility for leading, managing and coordinating the Contractor's performance for all railroad rolling stock including locomotive, cab cars, trailer cars and a small fleet of MOW support cars – ballast, air dumps, flats. This position oversees Rail Rolling Stock rehabilitation, capital and third-party programs and support services.Supervisory Responsibilities:

Yes.Duties/Responsibilities:

Work closely and collaboratively with other Contractor AGM’s, particularly the AGM Procurement/Inventory, AGM Rail Infrastructure, and AGM Information Technology Systems.Develop the annual scope and budget(s) for maintenance and support services.Manage directives for signals, active warning devices, communication systems, wayside train control systems, and Level 1 support for control center train control systems.Perform maintenance work during “off peak” commuter traffic periods – nights, weekends, and holidays.Inspect, repair, and maintain the fleet of equipment according to Contract requirements, ensuring safety and minimizing passenger delays.Provide prompt response and recovery of service when incidents occur that could delay trains.Support the effort to provide Work Directive Proposals for rolling stock modifications.Collaborate with AGM Information Technology and AGM Procurement/Inventory to achieve a streamlined, digital paperless working environment.Manage budgets and deliver superior service under budgetary constraints while working with public agencies, preferably commuter railroads.Other duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong written and oral communication skills.Excellent management and leadership skills.Ability to plan and organize work effectively and timely with strong attention to details.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, rail equipment maintenance and train control/signal system software.Knowledgeable in applying new technology to improve efficiency and safety.Proven management experience in subcontract, supplier, and vendor contracts.Ability to develop and establish programs for passenger safety, rule adherence, and training.Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation or related field—or equivalent experience.15 years of progressively responsible experience in Passenger, Commuter Railroad or Class 1 Railroad Commuter Operations, reaching the Division or Region Commuter Rail Operations Officer or COO level. Strong background in planning, budgeting, invoicing, and reporting on a commuter railroad.Physical Requirements:

Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.Other:

Must have a valid California Driver’s License with a good driving record.Must pass a background check and pre-employment physical examination including a drug test.Good understanding of 49 CFR 200 – 299.Salary Range:
