Job Summary:
The Lead Carpenter/Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of construction projects, leading a team of carpenters, and ensuring the timely and successful completion of all assigned tasks. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for clients and coordinate closely with the design and project management teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise a crew of carpenters, delegating tasks and ensuring adherence to safety protocols
Oversee all carpentry-related work, including framing, drywall, trim, cabinetry, and finish installations
Collaborate with the project management team to develop and maintain detailed project schedules, monitor progress, and anticipate/mitigate any issues
Serve as the primary client liaison, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns or questions
Ensure projects are completed within budget and to the specified quality standards
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including daily logs, timesheets, and material tracking
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
Participate in pre-construction meetings and site walkthroughs
Promote a positive, collaborative, and safety-conscious work environment
Minimum Qualifications:
7+ years of experience as a Lead Carpenter or in a similar supervisory role in the construction industry
Strong carpentry skills with expertise in framing, drywall, trim, cabinetry, and finish work
Proficient in reading and interpreting construction documents, including blueprints and specifications
Excellent project management and problem-solving abilities
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with clients, subcontractors, and the internal team
Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes
Proficient in using construction tools and equipment
Experience leading and motivating a team of carpenters
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and prioritize multiple tasks
Commitment to safety and quality
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Bonus Qualifications:
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
Experience working on design-build or design-assist projects
Knowledge of construction software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, Microsoft Project)
