Position Overview:

We are seeking an

Autonomous Vehicle Safety Driver

to report directly to the Engineering Manager Sr., of the AV field test group located at ATC. The safety driver will participate in over the road development and validation of L3 and L4 autonomous systems. The safety driver will work in a team environment with an AV validation engineer as needed.This position will be located at Navistars Advanced Technical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Support will be required at Navistars Proving Grounds in New Carlisle, IN on a regular basis in addition to occasional other business travel.Responsibilities:Conduct visual daily comprehensive inspections of the assigned vehicles pre and post trip.Drive on 8-10 hour shifts as needed on designated routes. Routes may involve overnight as needed within the range of the home base.Complete daily shift logs with detailed clear communications of all daily events.Must follow test plans with emphasis on observations while on test.Attend training on site at OEMs and Navistar test locations, as needed.Compliance to all FMCSA rules and regulationsMinimum Requirements:

Associates degreeORAt least 1 year of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experienceAdditional Requirements:

Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills:Class A CDL with greater than 5 years of over the road driving experience in urban and rural driving conditions with a proven safe driving record.Ability to work in a team environment, with AV validation engineer as well as team members from other parts of the R&D organization.Attention to detail for conducting pre and post trip DVIR reportsAbility to work electronically via tablet and laptop to complete driver shift reportsCompany Overview:Navistar, Inc.
