Position Summary:

The Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator (VOC) will assist the Chief of Staff & Executive Assistant with the Outreach operations of Hearts Campus. The VOC is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our outreach programs, thrift store, can and bottle redemption center, and cafe located on our campus in Buffalo, NY, serving an underserved community. This role will begin with the Outreach operations and take a phased approach of onboarding new responsibilities over time. This role is specific to our Buffalo campus and should not be confused with our other locations in different areas of Western New York. The VOC will coordinate a team of staff and volunteers to ensure efficient operations, excellent customer service, and a welcoming environment. In the second phase of this role, the coordinator will also ensure the smooth continuation and integration of our outreach programs, including our commercial kitchen, mobile soup kitchen, and several food pantries.

Essential Functions:Maintain the established processes and success of outreach programsOrganize and coordinate the recruitment of volunteers at the Buffalo CampusTrain and lead all volunteers for the outreach operations at the Buffalo CampusCreates and publishes weekly staff schedulesReviews and approves weekly staff time cardsCoordinates and attends monthly team meetingsEnsures all marketing materials are submitted monthly emphasizing on client and volunteer photos and stories to share with our supportersMaintains digital volunteer calendar and available slots based on ministry needsMaintains updated records of all volunteers at the Buffalo CampusSchedules and attends volunteer meetings and training events; reports on volunteer activities as neededRecommends and implements ongoing volunteer utilization and projectsMonitor and evaluate staff and volunteer performance and satisfactionHelps to implement volunteer appreciation events and recognition programsManages inventory, donations and sales for the Buffalo Campus Thrift StoreImplements strategies to increase sales, donations, and community engagement specific to the Buffalo campusCoordinate can and bottle recycling processes ensuring facility and equipment cleanliness and maintenance, maintain accurate records and proceduresCoordinates can and bottle donation drives when applicableOversees the future cafe operations including food preparation, serving, and hygiene standardsMaintains a clean, organized, and safe environment in all facilities on the Buffalo campusCollaborates with Hearts staff and community partners for outreach program awareness and growthOversees the operations of the commercial kitchen, mobile soup kitchen, and all food pantriesMaintains records of program statistics and reports to Marketing, partner agencies, and Management on a monthly basisMonitor and report on the impact of outreach programsAdheres to all health and sanitation policies and ensures organization's compliance with state and federal guidelines and requirementsCoordinates site inspections for all outreach programs with Department of Health and FeedMore WNYAttends partner agency meetings with community organizations; takes notes and reports deliverables and updates to managementOrders supplies for department as neededPerforms other duties as assignedEducation Requirements and Qualifications:

Associates Degree preferred2 to 5 years coordinating volunteers2 to 5 years of retail or related experienceStrong leadership and communication skillsPassion for serving the community, the underserved and empowering othersExperience in retail, food service, recycling, or social service industriesPrior roles requiring critical thinking and problem-solving skillsExperience communicating with a diverse mix of volunteers, donors and supporters would be beneficialExperience with having direct reports in a supervisory role or similarMust hold a current, valid driver's license.Excellent driving record, as verified through the state DMV.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proficient in relevant technology including but not limited to smartphone usage, G-Suite, Microsoft Word and ExcelProficiency in basic computer applications and point-of-sale systemsProficiency in volunteer management software and calendar toolsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to multitask and work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent customer service skillsExcellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skillsAbility to work with diverse populations and people groupsAble to work effectively independently and part of a teamFlexibility to work occasional evenings and weekendsCommitment to the mission of Hearts for the HomelessMust have reliable transportationJob Type: Full time

Pay: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour
