Location: Northampton, MassachusettsJob Summary:

Oversee budgets and all financial transactions for 150 student organizations and 45 houses/communities. Oversee Treasurer Support Services and key OSE administration functions related to organizations and houses both in and outside of the Smith Social Network and Workday. Serve as primary adviser for our year-round organizations including the Student Event Committee, WOZQ, the Sophian, and Yearbook. Plan, manage, and facilitate the OSE You Belong program. Supervise the Student Programs Coordinator.The assistant director of student engagement, in collaboration with the director of student engagement, should strive to create a student experience framed by the core values of the student affairs division, which include inclusion, access, growth, and engagement. The assistant director will be expected to attend regular meetings and serve on other departmental and campus committees as needed. The division of student affairs aims to create a support system framed by the learning aims of exploring, engaging, and belonging. Team members will take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, and 1-3 years of experience in student activities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Office management experience required. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree preferred.Skills:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; attention to detail; ability to take initiative and solve problems; proven experience working with diverse constituencies; ability to effectively manage multiple and competing projects and priorities. Proficiency in MS Office, Workday operating systems, and scheduling software preferred.Essential Functions:Advising and Organization Support (20%):

Advise and support the Student Events Committee, the Campus Radio Station WOZQ, the Student Newspaper The Sophian, the Madeleine Yearbook, and the Junior Class Cabinet. Advising will include individual weekly advising meetings with the chair of each organization and weekly executive board meetings with the group, providing guidance on mission and vision of the organization, understanding of all event programming components, and required on-site advising and oversight of large organization events. Have an in-depth understanding of student organization programming models, best practices, and student learning.Financial Support and Budget Oversight (40%):

Manage all organization budgets, process paperwork related to expenditures and income, and provide regular updates about budget status to appropriate department heads. Oversee usage of individual house credit cards as well as student organization credit cards. Coordinate and report out credit card transactions. Act as the liaison to the Controller's Office to ensure proper financial record keeping of all student organizations and house communities. Coordinate and facilitate student organization and house Treasurer Training throughout the year, ensuring that all student treasurers are properly trained on all College financial policies as they relate to their organization. Manage all finances in the Smith Social Network. Audit all transactions between the Smith Social Network and Workday. Manage the OSE University Tickets account, helping create and manage student and office accounts and train new users on the system.
