As the Senior Director of Supply Chain at Synapse ITS, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the strategic planning, procurement, supply chain, and inventory management processes within the organization. Your primary goal will be to provide effective leadership to the team and develop processes to drive operational effectiveness, ensure accurate demand planning, and mitigate risk while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Essential Job Functions

Leadership and Management:

Lead and manage a team responsible for demand forecasting, purchasing, planning and inventory management activities.

Set clear performance goals, provide guidance, coaching, and training to team members.

Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging teamwork, innovation, and continuous learning.

Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve overall supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.

Provide direct and complete end-to-end ownership of the SIOP process, ensuring effective collaboration with sales to meet and exceed customer expectations for order fulfillment.

Strategic Planning:

Analyze, plan, initiate, and implement all applicable supply planning-related efforts to ensure on-time delivery.

Create, analyze, maintain, and drive production plans to ensure meeting customer requirements.

Collaborate with sales, marketing, and production teams to gather demand forecasts and analyze market trends, historical data, and customer insights to develop accurate demand forecasts.

Create and maintain demand plans, incorporating sales projections, promotional activities, and market dynamics.

Purchasing and Supply Chain Management:

Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services.

Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms and conditions.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies in all purchasing activities.

Monitor supplier performance, including maintaining a vendor scorecard system, and address any issues necessary to maintain a reliable supply chain.

Process Improvement:

Identify areas for process improvement within planning and purchasing functions.

Develop and implement streamlined processes, best practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement inventory optimization techniques.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Utilize ERP software, data analytics, and reporting tools to track inventory performance, demand patterns, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Analyze data and generate reports on inventory levels, stock movement, forecast accuracy, and other relevant metrics.

Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to optimize planning and purchasing processes.

Present reports and findings to senior management, highlighting areas for improvement.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics teams to develop production plans, scheduling, and material requirements.

Monitor and adjust production schedules and plans based on demand fluctuations and supply chain constraints.

Partner with manufacturing, inventory, and finance teams to ensure alignment between sales forecasts, production capabilities, and inventory levels.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.

Ensure business continuity by developing contingency plans and maintaining strong relationships with alternative suppliers.

Requirements

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations management, business administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. Relevant certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, PMP, or Six Sigma are highly desirable.

Experience:

10+ years of experience in inventory management, demand planning, supply chain management, or related fields.

5+ years of leadership experience in managing teams and strategic initiatives within the supply chain or purchasing domains.

Strong knowledge of inventory control methodologies, demand forecasting techniques, warehouse management, and planning principles.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify process inefficiencies, develop streamlined procedures, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Proficiency in inventory management software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and data analysis tools.

Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve operational goals.
