Grace Chapel: Director of Children's Ministry
The Director of Children’s Ministries is responsible for creating and implementing all curriculum and events for the children’s ministries (birth-5th grade) as well as providing support to student ministries (6th-12th grades). This position will work collaboratively with all programs within the church to offer ministries geared toward children of all ages and their families.Ideal candidates will be creative, organized, forward-thinking and effective at building warm relationships with adults and children. Champion a vision and culture for faith formation for birth-5th gradeDevelop and maintain strategies to integrate children and youth into the overall life of the churchRecruit, train and oversee volunteers as well as paid Children’s Ministry StaffWork with volunteer leaders to plan and execute Sunday morning programsWork with volunteer leaders to plan and execute seasonal eventsEvaluate curriculum for various age-levels and programsIn collaboration with Pastors and Worship staff, to ensure engagement of children in worshipParticipate in congregational care to children and their familiesEnsure compliance with safety standards as it relates to ministry with childrenAttend staff and leadership meetings, as directedDevelop and maintain departmental budgetsEffectively communicate with families, volunteer, staff, and supervisors about planned ministries and activitiesDevelop and implement effective strategies to expand Grace Chapel’s children’s ministry participation both in quality and quantityCollaborate with other staff and volunteers to support Youth MinistriesAssist, as needed, with church-wide events, particularly (but not exclusively) as it relates to children’s participationParticipate in system-wide planning that may include working with staff from our Grace Avenue Frisco campusRequirements
5+ years of professional experience working with children in a church or school setting (preferred)Robust understanding of Wesleyan ChristianityAbility to work Sunday mornings and keep agreed-upon office hours during the weekAbility to work on church holidays and special worship events including but not limited to Christmas Eve, Holy Week, and Easter.Culturally competent and open-minded and inclusive as we minister with diverse persons, including race, sexuality, gender-identity, and beliefsTheologically thoughtful in evaluating curriculum and faith formationProactive in strategizing, planning ahead, calendaring, and communicating plansExceptionally skilled at delegating; experience managing 5+ direct-reports, including volunteers and childcare (preferred)Willing to work collaboratively with volunteers, staff, and supervisorsFlexible and willing to reevaluate programs based on outcomes and feedbackHow to Apply
