Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our faculty as a Tenure-Track Faculty member in Teacher Education. The successful candidate will be a team member in the initial licensure programs, teaching courses, serving as the Director of the Lutheran Classroom Teacher program, and supervising clinical experiences. Responsibilities may also include curriculum development; assessment; and service to the life of the university, the Church, the profession, and/or the community.
Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Teacher Education
Serve as the Director of the Lutheran Classroom Teacher program (supplemental job description and workload)
Supervise clinical experiences for teacher education candidates
Advise and mentor students in the education programs
Engage in scholarly research and publication
Participate in departmental and university service under the direction of the Department Chair
Required Qualifications:
Earned graduate degree in Education or a related field
Rostered in the LCMS as an ordained or commissioned minister of the Gospel
Active member of an LCMS congregation
Experience teaching in the Birth through Grade 12 school environment
Commitment to the mission and values of the university
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Education or a related field
Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
Licensed as a teacher
Record of scholarly research and publication
The successful candidate will:
Demonstrate a commitment to Christian higher education; the mission of Concordia University, St. Paul; and the Lutheran identity of the university
Possess a passion for teaching and mentoring students
Demonstrate highly developed skills in collegiality, collaboration, and written and oral communication
Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring quality academic programs
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students in schools
Demonstrate the ability to effectively teach coursework in teacher education with diverse students across diverse pedagogical platforms (face-to-face, online, hybrid)
Demonstrate the ability to teach in technology-mediated environments
