Position HighlightsThe University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix is seeking a vice chair of research in the Department of Neurology. This is an opportunity for an outstanding leader with a national/international reputation as a respected and accomplished academician, clinician, educator, and collaborator with a proven track record in innovating research. A qualified individual will also serve as the director of the Neuro-endovascular Program in the Department of Neurosurgery at Banner—University Medical Center Phoenix (Banner – University Phoenix).The vice chair will work in strategic consultation with the department chairs and the College’s Translational Research Office (TReO). The vice chair will work alongside the chairs and focus their efforts on a strategic tripartite mission of excellence in clinical care, research, and education. As vice chair and program director, the candidate will be a nurturing mentor to faculty and trainees, providing ongoing guidance and support of their professional development. They must be a respected leader who is experienced with clinical trial center operations, clinically active, and knowledgeable of cutting-edge medicine. The candidate must be viewed by stakeholders as an effective leader who will help guide the multi-disciplinary program and hospital system.The vice chair will assist the department in developing a research vision and infrastructure, seeking grant and other funding opportunities, serving as a principal investigator, developing research plans and methods, implanting and managing research studies, and disseminating research findings. In addition, this individual will be expected to develop collaborative relationships with other university, clinical, and community partners fostering a cutting-edge Neuro-endovascular Program.The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in the Department of Neurology, actively participate in teaching, clinical service, and/or scholarly work, and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix anchors the 28-acre Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC) in the heart of the Valley of the Sun.
