Athletic Site Supervisor

The Athletic Site Supervisor is a part time, non-exempt position. As the Athletic Site Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of youth and adult athletic leagues and programming. This position will have many opportunities to work a variety of programs and leagues throughout the year. This includes youth basketball, volleyball, soccer, and dodgeball leagues as well as adult basketball, volleyball and softball leagues. General duties will include site supervision to ensure umps and game officials are present, distribute equipment and score cards, answer questions as they arise, score keep, resolve conflict, communicate with Athletic Supervisor, and ensure games and programs run on time.

ABOUT US:

The Oak Lawn Park District, incorporated in 1944, has a long and proud history of serving the recreational needs of our 56,000 residents with a myriad of recreational programs and services. We operate under the state tax cap as a municipal corporation, meaning we are our own taxing body. Overseen by a Board of five elected officials, the District manages a combination of 34 parks and facilities which cover over 280 acres. In addition, we manage a Special Recreation Cooperative that offers recreational programs and services to individuals with disabilities in 9 municipalities.

QUALIFICATIONS• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older.• Ability to communicate both written and orally with supervisor and general public• Ability to work independently for extended periods of time• Strong organizational skills• Knowledge of sport activities including but not limited to; Softball, Basketball, Volleyball, Dodgeball• Ability to work in hot weather conditions• Ability to work evening and weekend hours• Must obtain or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certified

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:Athletic Supervisor(s)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Directly supervise all league and intramural activities as assigned.• Prepare sites for recreational activities (gym, softball fields)• Distribute and collecting all forms and scorecards from teams• Communicate with the Athletic Supervisor, officials, and patrons as necessary• Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and organizing all game day equipment• Record scoresheets for adult league and intramural league games• Report and record all behavioral/disciplinary/unsafe conditions that may occur• Obtain knowledge of the park districts rules and policies• Assist with the setup of events• Assist all umps, referees, or any other game official when needed.• Direct teams and patrons to their correct fields, courts, ect.• Being prepared to call police or paramedics at a moments notice• Punctuality and professionalism• Other duties as assigned

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:• Attend all park district trainings• Obtain and maintain CPR Certification• Complete accident/incident reports• Enforce and abide by all Oak Lawn Park District Policies and general rules• Responsible for Oak lawn Park District equipment and control in the gym, and supervise participants along with spectators admittance to the gym.• Report any and all unsafe conditions immediately to the Athletics Supervisor• Work in a cooperative and assisting manner for the constant improvement of all aspects of the Oak Lawn Park District.• Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor as deemed necessary and appropriate under your position.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:• Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time• Must be able to work 5-20 hours per week• Must be able to sub or work longer shifts than necessary• Must be able to work at a scores table for extended periods• Lifting items 50 lbs. or heavier• Assisting with the setup of events

PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:• Ability to work along on any shift• Ability to work a varied schedule as required• Ability to work with staff and patrons in a relaxed, friendly and professional manner.• Ability to use good judgment in the absence of supervision

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:• Worker performs activities outdoors and indoors• Worker performs activities indoors. Indoor environment include lighting and temperatures• Worker must be able to work indoors and outdoors on occasion in weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain)• Worker may be involved in repetitive work (scoreboard, writing)

COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS:• Worker must have the ability to follow directions• Worker must have knowledge of league and sport rules• Worker must possess time management and organizational skills to effectively preform their job• Worker must have the ability to make judgements with respect to confidentiality of information and problem solving.• Worker must use good safety awareness and judgement in all aspects of this position.
