This position will be primarily self-managed to perform Nordstrom’s Internal Control over Financial Reporting (SOX) audits and be available to support operational audits during the year.A day in the life…Evaluate risk and likely sources of potential financial misstatement for key processesPartner with company financial, operational and information technology groups to conduct walkthroughs, assess control design, and review control operating effectiveness for processes across the organization, with a focus on new transactions, significant changes or other areas of high riskAssist in the execution of SOX Program Management responsibilities including the coordination, execution and monitoring of controls testing, exceptions and remediationAct as a liaison to the company’s external auditors on their annual audit and the company’s SOX programDrive control optimization and automation opportunities, data analytics and process improvementsOwn the control deficiency communication and documentation for the assigned processesAssist in the periodic update and distribution of corporate governance documents (including quarterly 302 questionnaires and control self-assessments)Assist with special projects such as operational audits and other department projectsYou own this if you have…5+ years of experience in audit and/or accounting preferably with a big 4 public accounting firm. Experience working with a large publicly traded company required.3+ years of supervisory or project management experienceBachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting, and preferably a CPA or CIAStrong knowledge of and application of accounting principles and practicesWorking knowledge of main governance standards and framework, including:SOX act regulations (Section 302, 404, AS5, PCAOB, etc.)Financial Reporting and US GAAP (i.e. SEC filings, revenue recognition, retail method of accounting, etc.)IIA Standards and COSOInternal controls and their relation to the financial statementsGeneral knowledge of information system terminology, concepts and practicesStrong organization and time management skillsAbility to work independently as well as collaborativelyHigh level of ownership, accountability and initiativeProven experience of evaluating complex data and drawing logical conclusionsExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsWe’ve got you covered…Our employees are our most important asset and that’s reflected in our benefits. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.Washington: $89,000 - $170,500 Annually. This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
