Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources for the Defense Systems Sector, the Senior Director Talent will serve in a key leadership role on the sector HR leadership team, as well as the corporate Talent Center of Excellence. This individual will provide oversight for a broad set of organization development and talent management functions including succession planning and leadership pipeline development, organization effectiveness and change management, performance management, leadership and functional development, and culture/engagement strategy. The role will oversee sector talent identification and assessment, succession management, and the identification of development needs to inform talent development strategies. This executive will partner with HR leadership to provide organization effectiveness and development consulting, including support for organization design and operational performance, leadership and team effectiveness, and program development/facilitation.
The ideal candidate will manage a function capable of meeting the needs of a large and complex aerospace and defense company and an ever-changing talent landscape and be able to lead others in a matrix environment. The successful candidate will effectively communicate and partner with internal and external stakeholders and will be responsible for creating strategic concepts and translating them to execution to produce business outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Advising and collaborating with sector HR Business Leaders to develop and implement talent strategies to address business priorities. This includes assessing critical business and leadership issues to design and implement organization effectiveness solutions that enhance performance, including organization design and operating models.
Applying broad based knowledge of HR to provide OD/OE consulting and change agility expertise, and design/develop organization change efforts necessary to achieve business long range strategic plan (LRSP) and annual operating plans (AOP).
Facilitate organization assessment and development initiatives aimed at increasing team effectiveness, operational efficiency and systemic culture change by designing and executing on appropriate interventions.
Provide thought leadership on various development and talent programs aimed at specific talent segments and sector business outcomes (e.g., early career programs, critical skills pipeline development, senior technical and leadership gateway roles).
Partner with the corporate Diversity and Inclusion and People Analytics teams to align sector efforts and identify metrics to measure impact and ROI.
Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise in the OE domain including line of sight to internal and external best practices to inform OE frameworks/approaches and adopt for the enterprise as appropriate.
Identify Talent intersection points across functional partners (inside and outside of HR) to deliver an integrated approach and employee experience across our talent processes.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business, management, organizational development, human resources, or closely related field is required.
Minimum of 12+ years of experience in organizational development or a role demonstrating expertise and thought leadership in implementing organizational and/or talent management solutions to include change management, organization design, talent management and development, rotational programs, leadership / functional development.
Experience operating within a $5B+ revenue manufacturing, technology or aerospace and defense organization with a track record of advising and implementing Talent Management/OD/OE solutions that translate to the business.
Demonstrated aptitude for learning with the flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and navigate ambiguous situations.
Demonstrated experience leading medium-large teams, including both direct and indirect oversight to drive successful business and functional outcomes.
Experience collaborating with and influencing senior leaders (VPs) to ensure client-satisfaction regarding project and/or process goals and objectives and strategic initiatives.
Must be willing to travel (25%) of the time.
Outstanding organization and project management skills with the ability to manage the delivery of high-quality, on-time programs in a dynamic environment.
Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to manage multiple clients with diverse needs in an efficient and effective manner.
Systems and strategic thinking.
Executive level presentation experience and proven proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in consulting / coaching senior (C-suite) leadership and expertise in change management and strategic communication strongly preferred.
Demonstrated capability in process improvement implementation.
Prior experience leading one or more Center of Excellence functions for a large organization.
Master's degree or advanced certification in OE/OD preferred.
Salary Range:
$198,400 - $311,800
