Leadership:Exercise proactive leadership in promoting the mission and vision of the schoolPlan and prepare strategies which support and monitor the school goals and plansProvide staff supervision, conduct or oversee annual performance appraisalsPromote and monitor all staff developmentProvide leadership for continuous school improvementCurriculum and instruction:Monitor the development, implementation and evaluation of curricular programs and ensure that all initiatives are student focused and aligned with the school mission and improvement plansProvide leadership in the articulation among all instructional levels as well as special services within the schoolGuide instructional staff toward ongoing assessment of student performancePromote and support effective instructional practiceProvide leadership in identifying and requiring appropriate teaching materials and equipmentProvide leadership in the development of technology plans and purchasing of equipmentCommunication:Monitor internal and external communication systemsMaintain contact with the state department of education and other agencies/organizations for the exchange of information to enhance the ongoing efficiency and effectiveness of the schoolOversee communication system between school and parentsServe as liaison between the school and the authorizerProvide assistance to the School Board regarding meeting agendas, Board development and other board dutiesLearning environment and student management:Guide the process of effective dissemination of information between teachers and parentsMonitor reporting systems involving health and safety of studentsProvide and communicate clear expectations for student learning environment and behaviorDevelop yearly student schedulesOversee development and implementation of student/parent activitiesEnsure that all state and federal guidelines and rules regarding students are followedResource allocation and management:Exercise proactive leadership in organizing the school's resources to best meet the needs of all studentsPrepare and manage the school’s annual budgetMonitor all internal systems of the school and make recommendations to the School BoardOversee long term capital improvement needsMonitor ongoing building maintenance and budgetOversee and monitor all grant proposal processesOversee authorizer renewal processesCoordinate business functions with instructional activities of the schoolAddress problems within the school systems and design procedures and policies to address these areas of concernCompliance:Ensure that the school adheres to all applicable state and federal laws and regulationsEnsure that school meets the requirements of the contract with the school’s authorizerOversee the collection and analysis of data related to the school goals for annual report and ensure annual report is completedEnsure that all annual state and federal grants and reports are completed and filedDirect and supervise the development, maintenance, updating, and distribution of School Board policies and proceduresOversee the development and implementation of yearly student recruitment planPersonnel:Provide and communicate clear expectations for staffEnsure that all state and federal laws regarding personnel are in complianceMonitor and facilitate resolution of staff conflictPromote and support professional development of all staff within the schoolOversee the recruitment and selection of all staff and provide appropriate orientation and trainingQualifications

Requirements:Experience with non-profit governance structureExperience in non-profit and/or school finance structuresPrevious executive level leadership rolesBA +5 years of experience or Masters level degree in business, education or a related fieldPreferred:Valid MN principal or superintendent licensure5 years of successful teaching experienceAdministrative experience in supervision and staff evaluationEffective oral and written communication skillsAbility to work cooperatively with all stakeholders as partners, including parents, community members and staffInstitution Description
