Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is not just a statement but a practice that permeates our work and active involvement in community programs and projects.Position Overview:Williams Kastner is seeking an Associate attorney candidate in our Spokane, Washington, office. This candidate will have experience in general defense litigation. Experience in employment, torts, real estate, and corporate is preferred but not required.Responsibilities:Drafting, reviewing, and revising legal documents, pleadings, discovery requests, and research memorandums.Advising clients on legal rights and assisting in developing and implementing a strategy for defending and litigating the case.Gathering evidence in cases to formulate a defense or to initiate legal action.Conducting research, interviewing clients and witnesses, and handling other details in preparation for trial.Preparing legal briefs, developing strategy, arguments, and testimony in preparation for case presentation.Representing clients in court and before quasi-judicial or administrative agencies of government.Additional responsibilities may include interpreting laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses and conferring with colleagues in specific practice areas to establish and verify the basis for legal proceedings. Candidates are expected to be able to communicate and maintain relationships with experts in preparing opinions and required reports, preparing experts for deposition and trial, and defending experts in depositions.RequirementsQualifications, Experience, and Educational Preferences:Law degree and a minimum of 4-6+ years’ experience in law practice. Must be licensed to practice law in Washington state; licensed in Oregon and Alaska a plus. Experience with general tort litigation, class action, labor and employment, and serving as second chair in a trial is a plus.Excellent oral and written communication skills, including understanding, analyzing, interpreting, and conveying complex information and concepts.Ability to bill at least 1800 hours annually.Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Salary Range and Benefits:$135,000 - $155,000 – This salary range is dependent upon a variety of factors, which include but are not limited to the following: the candidate’s relevant experience, skill level, and demonstrated ability to perform all of the essential functions of the position. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short & long-term disability, 401K, paid time off, and holiday pay.Working Conditions:Typical office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, etc. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time; frequently operates a computer and other office machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer; often works under deadlines; occasionally needs to move about the office to access file cabinets, machinery, etc. Ability to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds.Our DNA Code:Be Exceptional
