A law firm in Louisville, KY is seeking a motivated and talented Junior Intellectual Property (IP) Life Sciences Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in life sciences patent preparation and prosecution, along with expertise in various scientific disciplines related to biotechnology, chemistry, or engineering. This role is ideal for individuals with advanced degrees in relevant fields and an interest in providing top-tier legal services to clients in the life sciences industry.Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and prosecute patent applications in the life sciences field, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.Conduct thorough patentability, infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate analyses.Collaborate with clients, including scientists and business executives, to develop patent strategies aligned with their business goals.Draft patent-related documents, including specifications, claims, and responses to Office Actions.Support patent litigation efforts by performing research, drafting motions, and conducting analysis as needed.Conduct due diligence for life sciences companies, including assessing intellectual property portfolios and identifying potential risks.Stay up-to-date with developments in patent law and life sciences technology to provide informed legal counsel.Collaborate with partners and other associates on complex IP matters, ensuring high-quality service delivery.Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of experience in life sciences patent preparation and prosecution.Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, chemical engineering, or a related life sciences field.Strong academic and work credentials, with a proven track record of excellence in legal and scientific endeavors.Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively.Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time-management skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.Education & Certifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.Active membership in the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with eligibility to practice law in Kentucky preferred.A Ph.D. or advanced degree in a relevant life sciences field is required.Skills:

Proficiency in patent preparation, prosecution, and patent portfolio management.Strong analytical skills to assess complex legal and scientific issues.Familiarity with USPTO guidelines, procedures, and international patent prosecution practices.Ability to work with scientists, engineers, and other experts in life sciences to provide accurate and thorough legal advice.Strong interpersonal skills and client-service orientation, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues.
