This position can be filled in Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta.

Essential Job Functions:The Claims Manager will be responsible for the active management of EPL (Employment Practices Liability), private D&O (Directors & Officers), and Fiduciary claims involving public, private, not-for-profit institutions. Prior experience handling D&O/EPL claims involving financial institutions (FI) is a plus. Prior experience handling EPL and/or professional liability claims is required.

The successful candidate will be required to evaluate coverage, draft coverage correspondence and assess appropriate reserves, undertake claims investigations, manage defense counsel and legal spend, assess liability and financial exposure and effectively negotiate cost effective, good faith claims resolution.

Requirements:

Bachelors’ degree required. Juris Doctorate preferred.

7 to 10 years of experience in the insurance/legal profession dealing specifically with Financial and/or Professional Lines claims.

In-depth understanding of policy language/coverage.

Experience managing, evaluating, negotiating and resolving private D&O, FI, and EPL claims. In-depth knowledge of the U.S. legal system, civil litigation and ADR proceedings.

Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of federal and state laws applicable to various claims presented under Financial and Professional Lines policies.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Pro-active, independent thinker, team player.

Carrier experience required.
