The Scientist will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through the performance of support services.

Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform tissue immunohistochemistry; selectively image antigens in cells of a tissue section by exploiting the principle of antibodies binding specifically to antigens in biological tissues.Section, stain and work with Laboratory of Pathology staff in scoring the results; present results to UOB staff.Use immunocytochemistry, which encompasses a multitude of different microscopic techniques used to study the immune system.Use immunocytochemistry to study tissue samples for immune response to immunotherapy treatment in patients.Perform LOH analysis, which is genetic mutational analysis of tumor samples looking for changes from germline and in response to various treatments.Perform confocal microscopy and other routine pathologic techniques on clinical trials samples; look for structural changes such as necrosis in response to treatments.Stain for various immunohistochemistry markers and examine tumors for immune cell infiltrates.Scan prepared pathology slides to facilitate analysis of images both intra and extramurally.Work with staff on analysis of pathology slides.Compile information for presentation to the LP staff so that the results can be incorporated into journal articles for publication, but most importantly to see how the immunotherapy treatments are working in patients.Serve as a liaison from the Genitourinary Malignancies Branch to the Laboratory of Pathology and to multiple companies that are collaborating with Translational SP lab and Urologic Oncology Branch and other collaborators on IRB approved correlative study analysis with these tissue samples.Coordinate and perform sectioning and shipping of samples to collaborators as well as provide feedback and reports to the LP.
