Sorenson Engineering is seeking a candidate with experience in manufacturing engineering, with CAD CAM development, CNC Programming, and training experience.

Summary:

The Director of Human Resources will lead and direct the HR department, overseeing all HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, compliance, and organizational development. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in HR management, a deep understanding of California labor laws, and a proven track record of implementing effective HR strategies.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with Sorenson Engineering's overall business goals.Provide leadership and guidance to the HR team and other departments.Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on all HR-related matters.

Talent Acquisition and Management:Oversee the recruitment process to attract top talent.Implement effective onboarding programs to ensure new hires are integrated successfully.Develop and manage performance appraisal systems that drive high performance.

Employee Relations:Foster a positive work environment through effective employee relations programs.Address and resolve employee grievances and issues in a timely and professional manner.

Compensation and Benefits:Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs.Conduct regular salary and benefits benchmarking to ensure market competitiveness.Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs.

Compliance:Ensure Sorenson Engineering's HR policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local laws, particularly California labor laws.Keep abreast of legislative changes and ensure the company’s compliance with all employment laws and regulations.Manage employee records and ensure they are maintained in compliance with legal requirements.

Organizational Development:Develop and implement training and development programs to enhance employee skills and career progression.Lead initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.Support succession planning and talent management processes.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of HR management principles and best practices.

In-depth understanding of California labor laws and compliance.

Compensation strategies and benefits programs.

Strong leadership and team management, exceptional verbal and written communication in English.

Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills.

Proficient in data analysis and HR metrics.

Technical proficiency in HRIS and ATS systems.

Ability to think strategically aligning with business goals.

Effective problem-solving and decision-making.

Able to adapt to changing environments and priorities.

Discretion in handling confidential information.

High emotional intelligence.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly desirable.

Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

In-depth knowledge of California labor laws and regulations.

Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business objectives.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

Strong leadership abilities with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.

Demonstrated experience with HR software and tools, such as HRIS and ATS systems.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to walk to other areas of the plant as well as lift up to 20 pounds. Must have good eyesight and hand dexterity. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Work Environment:

Within safety guidelines, there will be exposed to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
