Work Shift:This is an on-site position - Monday through Friday. In addition to normal business hours, this position will be expected to work nights, evenings, and weekends as specific business needs require.

Purpose:Provide leadership, oversight, and administration of innovative student-centered activities and programs, including a traditional college programming/activities board composed of 10 student-led committees.

Responsibilities include:

Develop and initiate student leadership and mentoring programs.

Lead, motivate, supervise, and evaluate four professional team members, as well as student employees.

Participate as a leadership team member with University Unions in decision-making, problem solving, strategic planning and assessment.

Serve as coordinator of student advising, student programming budgets, collaboration, program evaluation and assessment.

Establish and maintain relationships with internal/external partners and peer institutions to develop and share best practices.

Coordinate and/or participate in appropriate University of Texas committees, task forces, and professional associations and conferences.

Lead the departmental budgeting processes; make fiscally responsible decisions and recommendations.

Review and edit all contractual agreements from internal and external sources.

Ensure that all programs and activities are consistent with the mission and goals of the University.

Serve as a student advocate, providing guidance and appropriate referrals to students seeking assistance.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Higher Education, college student personnel or related field.

Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in advising and administering student programming in a higher education setting.

Minimum 5 years professional experience supervising full-time staff.

Demonstrated expertise working with students and student leaders within an educational setting.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.

Excellent leadership, organization, interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills.

Able to be flexible as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

A PhD or other advanced degree.

A demonstrable track record of leading, motivating and managing professional staff teams both directly and indirectly to achieve significant, sustainable service improvements and outstanding results.

Experience managing volunteer student organizations and other student-centered programming and events.

Experience working with and creating both departmental and student organization budgets.

Experience in developing and implementing a strategic mission and vision for a student activities area.

Experience in assessment of educational outcomes in student activities.

Experience with assessing risks associated with student events and programs.

Experience working effectively with administrative and academic sides of the University.

A positive attitude toward high energy, innovation, and creativity.

Salary Range$101,000 + depending on qualifications.

Working ConditionsMay work around standard office equipment. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Frequent standing and sitting and the use of manual dexterity.
