What will I do?
The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s financial operations, including financial analysis, key performance indicators (KPIs), financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting. This role will require strategic problem-solving to address financial challenges and lead variance analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. The Director of Finance will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, provide insights to drive business decisions, and support the company's overall financial health and growth.
Job Knowledge, Skill and Requirements:
Financial Analysis:
Proven ability to conduct financial analysis, including profitability, liquidity, and solvency analysis.
Reporting Standards:
Experience with financial reporting standards and regulations.
Performance Metrics:
Knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics relevant to the industry.
Business Acumen:
Understanding of business operations and their financial impact. Telecom or heavy capex based recurring revenue business experience a plus.
Technical and Other Skills:
Advanced Excel Skills:
Proficiency in using advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
Financial Reporting Tools:
Experience with financial reporting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, or similar systems).
ERP Systems:
Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and their financial modules.
Data Analysis:
Ability to analyze financial data and generate actionable insights.
Forecasting and Budgeting:
Experience in creating financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses.
Accounting Principles:
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Adaptability:
Ability to adapt to changing financial environments and priorities.
Problem Solving:
Strong problem-solving skills to address financial issues and discrepancies.
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Datarails.
Assessing Financial Markets
Identifying solutions to financial issues
Preparing reports including preparation of monthly board reports and lender reports
Overseeing the financial modeling of the company and proforma for M&A exercises
Assist in budgeting process
Managing and providing ongoing training to finance personnel
Conducting weekly and monthly financial assessments and generating reports to submit to senior management
Ability to build DCF and LBO models to analyze opportunities and current value
Comfort in working in a fast-paced growth environment
Education and Experience:
Professional Experience:
Preferred 10 or more years of experience with telecommunications accounting functions in a medium- or large-size telecommunications company(s).
Financial Reporting:
Demonstrated experience in preparing and analyzing financial reports and statements.
Project Management:
Experience managing financial projects or initiatives.
Soft Skills:
Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills to present financial information clearly to stakeholders.
Analytical Thinking:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Attention to Detail:
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
Collaboration:
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making.
Education and Certifications:
Degree/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Private Equity experience and/or Capital Markets experience a plus.
Certifications:
Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) are advantageous.
