Duties and Responsibilities:

Course Development and Instruction (40%):

Create and assess learning objectivesUpdate syllabi each semesterDevelop and teach course contentPrepare course materials, homework assignments, and handoutsUpdate weekly lessons and readingsProvide timely and constructive feedback to students on assignments, exams, and projectsFoster relationships with faculty and staff partners and coordinate guest lecturesUtilize an array of learning platforms and technologyAssess and incorporate student feedback to develop and improve course content and deliveryInstruct and lead global programs abroad

Career Counseling (30%):

Provide holistic coaching and mentoring to pre-health studentsConduct individual meetings with students in a variety of appointment typesCoach students in the Health Profession Pathways programPlan, develop, and implement programming and workshops for career developmentProduce career content to share with students via social media, websites, newsletters and technology platforms

Outreach and Engagement (15%):

Represent the Pre-Health Student Resource Center at campus eventsSupport planning, execution, staffing of PHSRC large scale eventsDevelop and lead professional development opportunities for student services staffProvide staffing for Undergraduate Admissions eventsServe as a liaison to University of Minnesota undergraduate colleges and health sciences programs

Recruitment, Hiring, and Supervision of Student Workers (7%):

Coordinate the recruitment and hiring process for student workersOnboard and train new hiresSupervise student workers; provide feedback and coaching on job performance

Professional Development (5%):

Participate in professional development around career developmentCommitment to continuing education and skill development focused on equity and social justiceEngage in regional and national organizations

Other Duties as Assigned (3%):

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:BA/BS degree plus at least five years of relevant experience, or master's degree plus at least three years of relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in higher education and student affairs, counseling, or a related fieldPrevious career coaching, counseling, or academic advising experiencePrevious experience as a course instructorFlexibility to work occasional evenings or weekendsDemonstrated commitment to equity and social justice

About the Department

The Pre-Health Student Resource Center serves pre-health students in their journey to explore health careers, build a well-rounded and competitive portfolio, and apply to a health profession program.This position reports to the PHSRC Director and works as part of a collaborative team to provide support to pre-health students at the University of Minnesota. This position will have an opportunity to work flexibly in a hybrid environment.
