Position Purpose

We are looking for a senior lawyer who specializes in industrial relations and employment law to join our Legal & Compliance Team.Supporting our People & Transformation Team and business units, you'll be responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice on a wide range of employment and industrial relations matters, including unfair dismissal, general protections, contractor claims, underpayments, discrimination, industrial disputes and enterprise bargaining negotiations. Additionally, the role involves providing training and policy advice to ensure compliance with current labour laws and best practices.Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance with a dotted reporting line to the Senior Vice President, People & Transformation, the Senior Legal Counsel - Industrial Relations & Employment law will be responsible for:Providing expert employment law and industrial relations advice including dismissal, general protections, contractor claims, underpayments, discrimination to human resources, management and other business leaders.Managing and advising on industrial disputes/EBA negotiations.Assisting with whistleblower management and in-house investigations as required.Drafting, reviewing and negotiating employment contracts, agreements and other employment-related documents.Developing, reviewing and updating company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.Monitoring and interpreting legislative changes and providing proactive advice to the business on potential impacts.Developing and delivering training programs for management and employees on employment law, industrial relations issues and company policies.Managing and resolving employment-related disputes in a timely and effective manner.Managing industrial relations legal work outsourced to external legal providers and legal budget.Qualification

Tertiary qualifications in law and admitted to practice as a solicitor, holding a current relevant practicing certificate.5-6 years of post-qualification experience in employment law.Demonstrated deep understanding of the legal and regulatory framework relating to employment and industrial relations matters, including unfair dismissal, general protections, contractor claims, underpayments, discrimination, industrial disputes and enterprise bargaining negotiations.Advocacy experience in the Fair Work Commission or other relevant Tribunal(s).Experience

Strong negotiation skills and experience, including in resolving litigious matters.Sound judgment that will enable you to appropriately balance legal, commercial and customer considerations.Excellent legal technical skills including the ability to quickly grasp, communicate, negotiate and resolve issues across a range of employment-related matters.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with stakeholders.A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail and commercial acumen.Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Proven track record in developing and delivering training to key stakeholders.Desirable
