Job Description

The job opening is for a full-time R&D engineer to conduct research and advanced development for Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) in the heads area. Responsibilities can include: Optical modeling for HAMR heads (waveguides, lasers, near-field transducers, thin film test samples), innovative design (metal optics, laser integration, light delivery), optical design of test structures, and detailed data analysis. Responsibilities also include close collaboration with the wafer process teams to drive innovation in design, process, and materials.

Qualifications:

Minimum

of Ph.D degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics or closely related field. Industrial experience is highly desired. Highly qualified and experienced applicants will be considered for a senior engineer position.

The candidate

MUST

have demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Design and modeling of

optical

devices such as waveguides, lasers, and plasmonic devices, development of meta-materials, and optical inverse design. Multi-physcis modeling experience is highly desired.

Demonstrated ability to lead a project in research and/or advanced development is desirable.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment are essential.

An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, ability, knowledge of the job, performance, contribution and results, geographic location, shift, internal and external equity, and business and organizational needs.

The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
