Compensation: $46,092.80 to $51,414.40/Annual

($22.16 to $25.68/Hr.)*

* Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications. Though this position is unclassified, pay is equivalent to classified Pay Grade 28, Steps 6-12.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position will work with clients pre- and post-release to address employment plans; staff career centers; work with assigned resident or volunteer assistants in running the resource rooms; assist in delivering career readiness groups; and serve overall as HCF's Career Navigator.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

This position will work with clients pre- and post-release to address employment plans; staff career centers; work with assigned resident or volunteer assistants in running the resource rooms; assist in delivering career readiness groups; and serve overall as HCF's Career Navigator.

Pre- and Post- Release Employment Plans: Work with clients to prepare employment plans, identifying strengths and barriers with steps to address barriers. Use tools provided including assessments, mock interviews, resume/application building, soft skills building, core correctional practices, etc., to carry out the plan. Work with necessary reentry and parole staff to transition the plan to the community. Make contacts in the communities to access resources related to employment as needed, including workforce centers, KDOC Creer Navigator, and any agencies that can assist with transportation, clothing, tools, community identification, and other needs for carrying out the employment plan.

Resource Rooms: Oversee career center at the facilities, working with reentry staff as directed by the supervisor. This includes ensuring the rooms are stocked; equipment is working; and hours are set for access to the room. Also work with inmate or volunteer helpers, training them as needed, who can work with residents receiving services in the room. Ensure the right dose is applied, so those who just need access for self-help have access; and those who need more one-on-one assistance receive the assistance. Ensure information is current in the resource room. Help connect residents to services from the resource room as needed/available to job search and prepare.

Job Readiness Groups: Co-facilitate job readiness groups with other reentry staff as directed by the supervisor.

Conduct pre-release calls with community Career Navigators, grant providers, and community partners to ensure a warm hand off. Follow up with clients in released to your assigned area Job Specialists to track outcomes that occur as a result including job placement, retention and wages.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

One year of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency's programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Qualifications :

One year experience in job readiness/training work.

One year experience working with offenders or other at-risk population.

One year experience working with volunteers, mentors, tutors, or similar activities/programs.

One year experience in group facilitation.

Demonstrated good communication skills, orally and in writing.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements : Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must pass a criminal history records check.

Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate Required:

Each applicant (even non-residents) applying for a State of Kansas job vacancy must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance

within 10 days following the offer of employment

by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website. In the event that an individual who has been offered employment cannot provide proof of a tax clearance certificate, the individual will be required to enter into a payment plan with KDOR and remain current on such payment plan or make other arrangements with KDOR to achieve the tax clearance required under Executive Order 2004-03.
