The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Employment and Training Services, is recruiting for twoUnemployment Insurance Technician 1s located in Juneau!No Cover Letter Required!

These positions are in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14.

What You Will Be Doing:Audit and Recovery plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of information provided. You will primarily be analyzing reports and cross-referencing data from various sources. Responsibilities extend to initiating collections, processing payments, and meticulously reviewing entries to rectify any discrepancies. Additionally, the unit is tasked with taking appropriate actions to recover overpayments and penalties. This position is a multifaceted position that demands a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of accountability.

The Working Environment You Can Expect: Audit and Recovery answers incoming queue calls, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, providing a structured framework for managing workload and ensuring that staff can effectively assist customers.

The services we offer encompass a range of tasks, from speaking with and interviewing claimants and employers to explaining proper reporting procedures, collecting payments or explaining offsetting payments for individuals who have received overpaid benefits, with or without fault.

Additionally, the unit is responsible for taking detailed statements regarding the eligibility of those temporarily incarcerated. Writing eligibility determinations based on law and policy highlights the importance of adhering to established guidelines to ensure consistency and fairness in decision-making.

Overall, our team plays a crucial role in facilitating communication, managing claims, and upholding the integrity of the Alaska Unemployment Insurance program.

Our unit has very little turnover, is a fast-paced environment and is rewarding for those that like to keep busy. This is a full-time, permanent position working 7.5 hours beginning at 8am with the option for a set half-hour or full hour lunch.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience that includes work such as providing customer service, support, and feedback; explaining laws, rules, policies and procedures, services, or program requirements; gathering information and making eligibility or benefit determinations; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or eliciting information and inputting data into information systems or databases.
