The Attorney will report directly to the Assistant Chief Counsel who oversees Landscape Conservation Programs, Renewable Energy, Timber, and other natural resources issues relating to plants, fish, and wildlife. The Attorney will advise CDFW staff on a variety of legal issues relating to fish and wildlife and other natural resources, including issues arising under the Fish and Game Code. The primary focus of this position is to provide effective legal advice related to the permitting of renewable energy projects, habitat conservation planning relating to renewable energy and other projects, and support of CDFW’s land-based regions. The Attorney will conduct legal research; prepare legal opinions, memoranda, and correspondence; negotiate, draft, and review agreements and transactional documents; assist and advise CDFW staff with respect to natural resources, permitting, and regulatory issues relating to fish and wildlife; and work with the Office of the Attorney General on litigation related to CDFW’s programs.In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam:Attorney: Exam BulletinYou will find additional information about the job in the

Maintain normal and consistent work hours, averaging 40 hours per week. Position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule depending on operational needs. Work in excess of 40 hours per week is expected, when necessary, to complete assignments in a timely manner. Travel to all parts of the State via private or public transportation may be required.
