Principal Job Description

The Principal of Children of Christ Ambassador School is responsible for overseeing the entire educational program and managing the day-to-day operations of the school. The Principal ensures that all programs are designed and executed with a Christ-centered, biblical worldview. All school initiatives must be approved and evaluated by the Pastor and the Board of Directors.

The Principal is accountable for ensuring that all instruction, programs, and student activities align with the mission, philosophy, goals, and beliefs of the school ministry. The Principal reports directly to the Pastor and the Board of Directors, who conduct an annual performance review.

Essential Functions

Implement Christian education through a biblical worldview.

Promote Christ-centered youth activities within the school and the community.

Provide instructional leadership to attract and retain qualified Christian faculty and staff to achieve academic goals and maintain accreditation.

Create opportunities for the spiritual and intellectual growth of students and faculty.

Support ministry and mission work and demonstrate an active prayer life and growth in their relationship with Christ.

Participate in regular church attendance and integrate Christ-centered community activities to enrich the school's culture.

Responsibilities

Hire, supervise, and terminate academic and support staff in consultation with the Pastor and Board.

Foster professional growth among instructional staff to improve the quality of education.

Maintain academic, health, and student records.

Develop and implement a strong student recruitment program.

Establish safety procedures for students and personnel on school property.

Prepare and present the annual operations budget to the Board.

Schedule and supervise all student activities.

Enforce non-discrimination policies in all activities.

Coordinate staff responsibilities and duties.

Collaborate with the activity coordinator to develop the school calendar.

Recommend faculty and staff salary schedules to the Board and Pastor.

Oversee teacher certification processes.

Authorize the use of school facilities by external groups.

Serve as a liaison with parents and student organizations, providing leadership at school and community events.

Establish and administer personnel policies for faculty and staff.

Prepare necessary reports and participate in Board advisory activities.

Appoint moderators for curricular and co-curricular activities and ensure alignment with the school's mission.

Appoint an Assistant Principal and evaluate the performance of faculty and staff in consultation with them.

Design and implement a fair teacher supervision and evaluation process.

Direct policies for student retention, promotion, graduation, suspension, and dismissal, consulting with the Board and Pastor as needed.

Review school regulations periodically for compliance and enforcement.

Spiritual Qualifications

Practice a Christ-centered, biblical lifestyle and model Christian values.

Engage in servanthood through ministry and evangelism.

Adhere to the Holy Spirit's guidance as a born-again Christian and attend church regularly.

Promote a Christ-centered lifestyle characterized by a deep relationship with Christ.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

Master’s degree in educational administration, supervision, curriculum development, or education from an accredited institution.

At least five years of teaching experience at the elementary level; three or more years in a Christian school preferred.

Three or more years of leadership experience (Principal/Assistant Principal) in a Christian school preferred.

Maryland certification as a Principal (ADMIN II).

A letter of recommendation as a member in good standing from your Pastor/Bishop and a certificate of ordination.

Proven leadership ability in an educational setting, inspiring students, faculty, parents, and the Board.

Commitment to the mission of Christian education.
