The Director of Finance and Operations, in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, will direct and carry out the design, implementation, and administration of all Finance and Operations Department activities including preparation and reconciliation of accounts and budgets; and maintenance of benefit plans and vendor relationships. Successful monitoring of the Finance Department is imperative to the successful strategic operation and planning of the Agency. This position is responsible for providing leadership to managing, and coordinating the financial, operational health and stability of the agency as a whole. The position is a hands-on position. Director of Finance and Operations supervises and evaluates all accounting staff, where present. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.Essential Duties and Requirements of the Job:Performs and manages accounting functions including performance on: accounts payable, accounts receivables, allocation of revenue and expenditures; payroll processing; and bank and other reconciliations.Manages and implements the financial portion of employee benefit packages such as Paid Time Off, Section 125, health and life insurance, and retirement.Manages and implements financial affairs including preparation of agency and budget, monthly financial reporting and tracking, financial analysis/financial forecasts, governmental reporting, and audit preparation.Implements and manages the administration and operation of agency financial activities including drafts of all agency budgets, contracts and expenditures in collaboration and with approval of the CEO.Supervises and implements cash flow planning and ensures availability of funds as needed in collaboration with the CEO.Manages cash investment, and asset allocations.Develops financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships in collaboration with the CEO.Manages contractual financial, and operational services and grant management.Monitors for compliance with agency financial policies and procedures.Oversees operational aspects of the organization including: facilities management/building liaise, IT contractors, equipment and supplies contractors, and other aspects of the agency daily operations.Supervises accounting staff and accounting related contracts, where present.Maintains the highest levels of confidentiality for all personnel, financial and work-related information.Responds to e-mail, phone messages, and deadlines in a timely manner.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:At least 4 years of accounting and/or 6+ years of cumulative relevant experience (accounting, operations and/or audit).Experience in grant management (private funders and government grants) preferred.Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and good record-keeping.Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.High level of inter-personal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.Education:Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with a Masters Preferred.Computer Skills:Proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel.Other Qualifications:Michigan State Police Criminal History Check (Vibrant Futures will complete).National Sex Offender Registry Check (Vibrant Futures will complete).Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry Check (Vibrant Futures will complete).Drug Screening – Pre-Employment.Other Skills and Abilities:Working as part of a team in a small office is essential.
