Job DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities:The role of the Director of Quality is to provide overall leadership and direct the activities and resources of the Quality function for the business. Lead the quality strategic planning process, from development to deployment, ensuring all quality strategies and plans support the division’s goals. Define and promote a quality mindset across the entire business.

Significant duties and responsibilities include:

Serves as a member of the division’s Senior Leadership Team.

Establish/maintain/monitor QMS scorecard and quality KPI metrics relative to the manufacturing site initiatives.

Overall responsibility for maintaining effective QMS system in compliance with ISO9001 and additional quality related customer requirements.

Conduct periodic QMS reviews and update upper management on results.

Work jointly with the management team on strategic initiatives as well as other critical issues. Collaborate with management to develop business practices and procedures that support Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsible for guiding the local QFE program and for supporting/tracking the various continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

Responsible for the effective execution of internal and supplier audits, as well as hosting customer audits as required.

Establish and maintain relationships with key customer quality representatives to fully understand customers’ quality requirements.

Track the Price of Nonconformance costs and customer complaints – identifying opportunities and addressing root causes.

Facilitate, train, and promote “Zero-defect” methodology for all processes. Lead the organization to meet/exceed quality goals and commitments.

Work with management to ensure best practices are shared across the organization.

Overall responsibility for effective root cause analysis, CAPA and timely/routine communication with the customer(s). Conduct risk assessment to determine priority and level of actions.

Manage external benchmarking activities and maintain awareness of current, best-in-class internal audit practices.

Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, scheduling, and organizing work assignments within company policies and procedures across all quality departments.

Drive improvement in overall team leadership and engagement, ensuring the best team is in place to support growth, while maintaining and improving the culture.

Mentor and develop direct reports and entire Quality Team. Cultivate positive open communication while engaging and encouraging employee suggestions to drive improved quality.

Education and Experience:

Minimum BS degree in a technical discipline; BSME/BSEE preferred.

Minimum 8-12 years’ experience in an ISO manufacturing environment; Cable/connectors and/or regulated industries preferred.

5 plus years’ experience with Defense programs – Navy preferred.

Minimum 7-10 years supervisory experience.

Experience with Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma desired.

Quality management/engineering background with ASQ certifications desired; examples: CQE/CRE/CQM/CQA.

Demonstrated ability to improve quality, cost, and delivery goals.

In-depth Problem Solving/Root Cause Analysis and risk analysis (FMEA/FTA).

Candidates must be a US Citizen.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills that are Action oriented and customer focused.

Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.

Experience and understanding of MRP/ERP manufacturing systems.

Working knowledge of data management systems and statistical tools.

Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervision of all quality personnel.

Training Requirements:

Quality Management Systems.

IFS Overview.

Hazardous Communications.

Teledyne Ethics and Harassment training.

Physical Demands:

Light physical effort equal to occasional movement of product or documentation.

Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk throughout the facility.

Work Environment:

This position requires periods of working behind a desk, performing tasks on computer.

Significant periods of standing or walking throughout the facility to interface with other associates.

Personal Protective Equipment:

The use of Safety Glasses is required when walking throughout all production areas of the facility.

The employee is required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
