The ideal candidate will bring expertise in the Committee on Foreign Investments (CFIUS), U.S. export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is a plus. The candidate must be admitted and actively barred in Illinois.DutiesProvide legal counsel and strategic advice on CFIUS-related matters and international trade/export controls.Handle compliance issues related to U.S. export controls and ITAR.Represent clients in interactions with regulatory agencies and ensure adherence to federal regulations.Assist in the preparation and submission of required documentation and applications for export licenses.Analyze and interpret complex regulations and their impact on business operations.Conduct due diligence and risk assessments for international transactions.Develop and deliver training programs on compliance with international trade regulations.Stay updated on changes in regulations and provide proactive advice to clients.Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to international trade and export controls.Requirements2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement.Experience with CFIUS and U.S. export controls, including ITAR.General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred.Must be admitted and actively barred in Illinois.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.CertificationsAdmission to the Illinois State Bar.SkillsStrong understanding of CFIUS regulations and international trade compliance.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and negotiation skills.Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations.Proven experience in handling compliance and enforcement matters.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
