SOMeCA is dedicated to the success of UCSC's campus-wide student organizations.JOB SUMMARYUnder the supervision of the SOMeCA Director, the Program Manager will provide advising and administrative support for the student-initiated and student-governed programs of the Campus Sustainability Council / Student Environmental Center / Education for Sustainable Living Program. Specific responsibilities include: advising and oversight for student organizations, financial management, leadership development, administration, and supervision.APPOINTMENT INFORMATIONBudgeted Salary:

Never or RarelyJOB DUTIES50% - Advising & Oversight for Student OrganizationsProvides ongoing transformational advising and development to student leaders participating in student organizations on a wide range of issues.Advises student leaders on complex and sensitive issues.Brings extensive knowledge to students engaged in issues of sustainability.Advises and educates students in organizational development theories, problem solving, program planning, and leadership skills.Independently assesses and authorizes student organization events within established policies.Serves as a liaison between student groups and campus units to problem solve and facilitates major events.15% - Leadership DevelopmentIdentifies and creates student opportunities for academic, professional, and leadership development.Serves as the staff mentor for Chancellor Undergraduate Internship Program (CUIP) interns.15% - Financial ManagementParticipates in long range planning and development and new initiatives.Assists in the management of budgets for advised organizations.10% - AdministrationDevelops and maintains relationships with internal and external organization stakeholders critical to program success.10% - SupervisionSupervises student staff.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.Strong knowledge of principles and procedures involved in risk assessment.Experience planning and producing large and complex events and activities.Proven effective conflict resolution and mediation skills.Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relations.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of policies and procedures relating to the use of University funds and facilities.SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTSelected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.Ability to work long periods of time at a computer with or without accommodation.SAFETY STATEMENTAll UCSC employees must understand and follow job safety procedures.NOTICE OF AVAILABILITYIn compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the Clery Act), the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (ASFSR) is available at:
