About LexArts

LexArts is a non-profit organization that works for the development of a strong and vibrant arts community as a means of enhancing the quality of life in Central Kentucky. As the local arts council, LexArts provides a wide range of programs designed to integrate the arts into our daily lives, including Gallery Hop, LexArts Gallery at ArtsPlace and public art projects, and offers affordable creative and performance space for artists and organizations.

As the united arts fund of Central Kentucky, LexArts has raised millions of dollars in support of local arts through its annual Fund for the Arts Campaign and other fundraising efforts. With these funds LexArts provides general operating support for multiple organizations and offers competitive grants for community arts development programs and projects.

Position Description

We are seeking a skilled Development Director to lead our fundraising and donor relationship efforts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate and foundation giving. Working with the President and CEO, the board of directors and other staff, the Director of Fund Development also plans, organizes and implements fundraising strategy, events and appeals. The DFD works closely with the President and CEO, and the Development Committee of the Board to shape development strategy.

Responsibilities

Conduct research into funding opportunities from corporations and individuals

Engage donors and prospects at every phase of the donor cycle: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship. Partner with President, VP, and other board members as appropriate

Solicit donors for contributions to Fund for the Arts Campaign, special funds and projects, and planned gifts, according to agreed upon goals

Organize cultivation and stewardship events for donors and prospects to support the Fund for the Arts Campaign and other funds and projects

Supply accurate and timely donor information to staff and board volunteers

Cultivate loyal and dependable volunteer corps to work on Campaign and events

Write compelling grant proposals and manage grant applications

Collect and analyze data to measure the success of fundraising efforts

Manage budgets for development activities

Coordinate and execute fundraising events

Utilize software tools for donor communications and record-keeping

Requirements/Indicators of Success

Proven experience in fundraising, relationship management, and proposal writing

Proficiency in databases for donor management

Knowledge of budgeting and financial planning

Familiarity with data collection and analysis techniques

Experience with fundraising software tools

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Familiarity with Lexington and Central Kentucky philanthropic community

Articulates LexArts’ mission and programs in an easy and comfortable manner

Achieves mutually agreed-upon, ambitious and time-bound monthly metrics and annual goals for developed revenue

Information on donors and campaign contributions is accurate and timely

Respects confidential matters and practices discretion when sharing information

This is a paid position offering competitive compensation based on experience.

Up to $60,000.00 per year
