About New Mexico Military Institute:

NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory high school and junior college, complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. With a Corps of Cadets numbering up to 1000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum on the high school level and is currently developing a new middle school.

Position:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities, the General Manager is responsible for and coordinates the integrated business operations and associated amenities of the NMMI Golf Course. Organizes and coordinates the course's day-to-day golf activities, tournaments, and other special golfing events. Provides specialized advice, facilitation, and support in the community and collaborates with colleges, NJCAA personnel, and outside community constituents. May oversee one or more specified key operational or business functions for the golf course, as appropriate to individual requirements. This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time position. The salary is based on the level of experience and education. The job description is available upon request.

Tasks:

Oversee the management, performance, and daily operations of NMMI Golf Course, ensuring compliance with NMMI, local, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Supervise the Golf Course Grounds Manager, Assistant Golf General Manager, and Assistant Golf Professional.

Supervise and train Golf Pro Shop employees.

Establish and maintain appropriate customer service procedures and standards; interface with customers and resolve problems and conflicts as necessary.

Collaborate with and support the Colt and Bronco Golf Teams with the approval and direction of the NMMI Athletic Director.

Coordinate Golf Pro Shop activities for peak performance and profitability.

Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills:

Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of golf course management.

Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations for the operation of all aspects of a golf course complex.

Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.

Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Employee development and performance management skills.

Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

A valid New Mexico driver's license.

Must be certified as a Golf Pro or must be able to obtain certification.

Ability to manage staff effectively and professionally.

Knowledge of golf course operations and maintenance practices.

Preferred:

Five (5) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
