Digital Media Specialist

position, grade G24, in the Office of Community Relations Division.

About the Position:This position serves as a member of the County Executive's communications team and the Office of Community Relations (OCR), with a focus on digital media content and publishing. The Digital Media Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing digital media strategies to enhance our online presence and reach our target audience. This role will involve managing various digital platforms, creating engaging content, analyzing performance metrics, and staying up-to-date with industry trends. The ideal candidate will have a passion for digital media, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of digital marketing techniques, as well as coordination with partner agencies to amplify relevant content from agency-level social media accounts.

Assists communications team in management of the County Executive's official social media accounts.Assists in development of digital communications campaigns to drive engagement through digital platforms.Develops innovative ideas to increase engagement across digital platforms.Creates graphics and written copy for digital platforms, seeking approvals as needed from communications teamConducts regular analysis of digital media platform metrics.Utilizes data analysis to drive new ideas and digital media engagement.Utilizes data to make decisions on timelines for publishing digital content.Assists in development of digital communications campaigns to drive engagement through digital platforms.Collaborates with County agency Public Information Officers under the supervision of the communications team to help promote agency-level initiatives.Assists with generating new digital media ideas for major agency-level initiatives that will impact the community.Performs other duties as assigned, consistent with the specifications for this position, including, specifically attendance at training classes, or alternative career development activities to increase job competencies.Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with major course work in business or public administration, social service, sociology, psychology, or related fields.Two (2) years of responsible community development supervisory work.An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Relations or Public Relations.Considerable knowledge of and skill in English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar, and of writing and editing techniques.Knowledge County government issues, programs and activities and the executive, legislative and judicial bodies, and how they interact.Skill in creative, effective writing to edit and design reports and other publications covering a wide range of subject matter.Ability to critically evaluate a variety of subject matter from the standpoint of public interest, appropriateness, organization of materials, and content, style and English language usage.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of the media, managers and employees of the County Government and related governmental agencies.Ability to meet deadlines and to work under pressure.Ability to attend meetings or perform other assignments at locations outside the office.Demonstrated competency in developing an informational publication of an agencies service, function or program.EACH APPLICANT MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION WHICH CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.Additional Information

General Plan Information:

The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.

A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.

Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate. You will also need to submit the birth certificate of the child(ren) and your spouse must be listed as a parent.

The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services).

New employees must enroll in the County's health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.

The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the

beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.

After enrolling in the County's benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and/or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
