What to expectIn this role you will:

Act as a Chapter Lead, managing approximately 8-12 database engineers who are assigned to squads that specialise in Oracle DB, Oracle Exadata or Datastax Cassandra NoSQL.

Perform people management activities, such as recruitment, assigning engineering resources, setting objectives, and conducting performance appraisals.

Ensure best practices and recent trends are applied within the team, in terms of technologies and DevOps principles.

Follow future trends via education, conferences, or articles.

Create a culture of excellence and continuous learning, of knowledge & experience sharing between the members, allowing professional growth of the chapter members.

Build a network outside the chapter, maintaining relationships with all relevant stakeholders.

Orchestrate the feedback collection and foster a positive feedback culture.

Act as a squad member (approximately 50% of your time):

Be a ‘hands-on’ member of the squad with strong interest in keeping your technical skills current.

Work as a squad member making use of your database expertise to deliver highly resilient and highly secure database solutions to our internal customers.

Help to orchestrate the sound engineering of the underlying DB platforms, automation, and DevOps acceleration of our services.

Be part of the on-call rotation within your squad to help resolve critical service incidents and restoration of time-critical services.

What will make you successful?We are seeking professionals with:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology / Computer Science or related field.

5 years’ experience in database engineering or related field.

Proven experience of taking full accountability for database technology decisions/strategies and their implementation.

Mindset and experience in supporting mission-critical IT infrastructure.

Previous experience as a people manager is a plus.

Strong ability to quickly adapt and respond to change.

Customer-oriented and quality mindset – we continually strive to deliver true customer value.

Open-minded, solutions oriented, and a true team player – gaining energy through collaboration with others.

Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Ability to lead with a team focus.
