ExemptJOB SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Real Estate Accounting will be responsible for overseeing the management and oversight of the Real Estate Accounting Team. Primary responsibilities include coordinating monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, recommending accounting process improvements, and ensuring adequate documentation of accounting procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by Harbor Group Management Company.Oversee and direct the operations of the Real Estate Accounting Team, including offshore third-party accounting team.Ensure that the accounting team is customer service focused, including both internal and external constituents.Develop and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Ensure all reporting deadlines are met and internal and external financial statements are issued timely.Review monthly property financial statements packages and associated bank reconciliations.Monitor debt covenants for the portfolio and prepare quarterly/annual compliance certifications.Track and ensure mortgages and real estate taxes are paid timely.Coordinate annual audits/reviews and quarterly review activities with external auditors.Review accounting entries for purchases, sales, and refinances.Collaborate with other accounting/finance, operations, and asset management teams to enhance efficiencies in procedures.Maintain working relationships with accounting teams for third-party owners to ensure that accounting and reporting obligations are understood and met.Review legal documents to identify and ensure fee rebates are calculated and paid timely.QUALIFICATIONS:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Bachelor's degree or higher with emphasis on accounting and finance.8-10 years of related work experience including 5-6 years of supervisory experience.Big 4 or regional public accounting firm experience a plus.Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS reporting requirements combined with the ability to research.Strong analytical/problem-solving abilities.Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills, including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure, including busy season requirements.
