The Attending Physician, General Medicine will provide part-time general medical ambulatory care to adults in the primary care setting. As a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Attending Physician, General Medicine is committed to providing holistic health services to the patients and communities they serve.Typical Duties

Conducts direct patient care sessions per week, as assigned by the Division Chair.Works under the direction of the Clinic Lead of each clinical area or service of work.Must be able to work varied hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.Must be able to travel to worksites throughout Cook County Health (CCH).Functions as a member of the healthcare team in the health center, working collaboratively with mid-level providers, as assigned.Participates in staff and other related meetings.Completes all clinical duties in a timely fashion, including charting of patient visits.Participates in teaching activities for medical students, house-staff, and other health professionals.Maintains continuing medical education (CME) and participates in other professional activities.Participates in other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.Minimum Qualifications

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (DO) from an accredited college or university.Licensed as a Physician and Surgeon in the State of Illinois prior to starting employment.Must be cleared for privileges by Medical Staff Services by start of employment.Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine and must obtain board certification within two (2) years of starting employment.Completion of a residency program in Internal Medicine prior to starting employment.Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of prior experience in primary care practice.One (1) year of experience with electronic medical record documentation.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Knowledge of ACGME requirements.Knowledge of collaborative/supervisory agreement requirements for advanced practice providers.Knowledge of and ability to comply with clinical documentation requirements.Knowledge of and ability to comply with accreditation and regulatory agency requirements.Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of staff and a patient population composed of diverse cultures and age groups.Strong interpersonal, customer service, and empathy skills.Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.Must be able to travel to worksites throughout Cook County Health (CCH).Demonstrate analytical and organizational, problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict management/resolution skills.Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and precision in decision making.Ability to work varying hours as determined by changing clinic and CCH needs.Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and stressful environment.Ability to adhere to department policies and standards utilizing best practices.Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and composure when challenged.Ability to function autonomously and as a team member in a multidisciplinary team.Ability to see and hear clearly (including with correction).Demonstrate superb hand washing and sanitizing practices.Demonstrate the ability to follow department specific engineering, work practice controls and work area safety precautions.Must follow CCH protocol when exposed to noise, chemicals, disease, blood borne pathogens, patient violence, and procedural injuries.Veteran Preference
