Job Overview:This position is responsible for the supervision and oversight of Supervisors, Lead Medical Technologists, Lead Medical Laboratory Technicians, Point of Care Coordinator, Registered and Registry-Eligible Medical Technologists, Registered and Registry-Eligible Medical Laboratory Technicians, Co-op Students, Tech Aide IIs, Technologist Associates and Technician Aides in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology and Blood Bank as well as Outpatient Lab Coordinator, Lab Process Techs, Phlebotomists, Lead Phlebotomists, Phlebotomy Trainers, and Lab Assistants - POC in Support Services. This position is responsible for the overall operations of all Clinical Laboratory Services at the Bethesda North Hospital Laboratory, as well as laboratories located in and associated with Medical Center extensions. This position is responsible for hiring, terminating, provides performance counseling and appraisals for their direct reports as well as oversees these responsibilities for their entire Team. This position works collaboratively with the TriHealth Laboratories' department specific Technical Specialists and the Lab Compliance/Safety/QA Specialist to maintain quality and compliance with regulatory agencies. The Manager of Laboratory Services ensures that the Lab services meet customer needs while continuously striving to improve the quality of services provided. This position prepares and adheres to operating budgets, submits requests for capital equipment, plans for facility changes, evaluates services, measures site performance and develops staffing plans for all areas of responsibility. Planning:

is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the department operational and strategic plan in collaboration with the laboratory director, Medical Director and hospital administration.Customer Service:

Is responsible for understanding customer needs and expectations; pro-actively develop and implements measures of customer satisfaction and works to achieve those goals; role model for customer service.Stewardship:

Is responsible for establishing operating budget for department and operating within an established variance by utilizing resources consistent with the workload including staff and supplies. Monitors workload indicators developed.Communication:

Provides timely and essential communications to management (concerning personnel, equipment, complaints, etc.) and to employees (regarding new policies and general information). Is responsible to establish key relationships with others.Staff development:

Is responsible to maintain high employee morale through effective management. Utilizes team building techniques to problem solve and improve processes. Works with staff to identify and obtain career goals, reinforcing positive performance.Enhancing Quality of Care:

ensures high quality laboratory data regarding accuracy, precision and service. Prepares meaningful QA indicators that are monitored and reported monthly. Identifies areas for improvement and works to achieve process improvements.Policy Compliance:

is responsible for communicating and ensuring compliance regarding JCAHO, CAP, OSHA, AABB, HIPAA, and CLIA.
