South Dakota State University Cashier’s Office is offering an exceptional career opportunity as Director of Student Accounts. We are looking for a confident and innovative professional to guide our Jackrabbit students as they navigate their financial commitments. This position is located in

Brookings, South Dakota

and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position. This position is supervised by the Assistant Vice President of Financial Services.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for managing student account billings, payments, and refunds. The unit also administers preliminary, in-house collection efforts and student loans. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an aptitude for leading teams that prioritize customer service while accurately and efficiently processing a significant volume of financial transactions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree related to Finance, Accounting, Business Management or Economics completed by date of application;

At least three years of related experience;

Demonstrated ability to apply technology to business solutions;

Professional oral and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in managing higher education student receivables;

Experience with collection of past due accounts;

Demonstrated successful supervisory experience;

Knowledge of policies, procedures, rules, and laws related to student financial aid, student privacy (FERPA), and collection of current and past due accounts;

Demonstrated ability to promote excellent customer service;

Established record of initiating and implementing process improvements;

Experience or potential in developing effective communication plans;

Ability to collaborate well with other units;

Familiarity with Ellucian Banner software.
