The Director of Revenue Cycle Management is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the revenue cycle processes for a mental healthcare organization that provides both mental health and medical care. This role involves managing the departments of patient billing, utilization management, and financial counseling to ensure effective and efficient operations. The Director will be expected to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue cycle management, ensuring the organization maximizes revenue and maintains compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage the revenue cycle departments, including patient billing, utilization management, and financial counseling, and all components of the revenue cycle including pre-authorization and re-authorization, eligibility and benefits verification, claims submission, payments and payment posting, claims denial management, authorization and billing appeals, reporting and any other functions which involve revenue management.

Develop and implement strategies to improve revenue cycle processes, maximize covered days, reduce denials, and enhance cash flow.

Monitor and analyze revenue cycle performance metrics to ensure KPIs are met or exceeded.

Implement quality control standards and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards in order to maintain financial health and operational efficiency.

Continually seek ways and means for improving the delivery and support of revenue cycle activities and programs including developing, updating and implementing policies and standard operating procedures and monitoring the routine development of training material and ensuring educational resources to current and future staff.

Develop and maintain relationships with major payers and monitor the payments of third-party payers for the purpose of assessing compliance with established contracts.

Implement and manage a system to ensure that accurate billing information is entered into the billing system and that end-of-day and end-of-month balancing occurs.

Develop and implement evaluation tools and measure staff efficiency and effectiveness.

Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to streamline operations and improve patient experience.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to billing and revenue cycle management.

Utilize Aura EHR software to optimize revenue cycle management processes.

Provide leadership and direction to revenue cycle staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members.

Prepare and present reports on revenue cycle performance to the Chief Operating Officer and other executive leaders.

Stay current with industry trends and best practices in revenue cycle management and mental healthcare billing.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Masters preferred.

Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR), Certified Revenue Cycle Executive (CRCE), Executive of Healthcare Revenue Cycle (EHRC), or equivalent certification.

Minimum of 5-7 years of management experience in revenue cycle management, preferably within a mental healthcare setting.

Qualifications/Skills:

Experience with mental healthcare revenue cycle processes.

Have a thorough understanding of the technology behind revenue cycle management, familiarity with Sigmund Aura EHR software is highly preferred.

Sound knowledge of healthcare billing rules and regulations.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue cycle performance metrics.

Proficiency with use of MS Office and particularly MS Excel and other tools for effective analysis.

Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects.
