August 31, 2024Position SummaryJoin the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) at UHN, one of the largest academic medical imaging departments in Canada! With 750,000+ exams annually, we set the standard for clinical excellence. The JDMI is committed to ongoing education and quality assurance initiatives and is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and the Michener Institute of Education.The Breast Imaging Division is a Mammography Accredited Centre with the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) and also an Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) site. The Breast Imaging Technologist will report to the Corporate Breast Imaging Charge Technologist at UHN and adhere to respective institutional policies and procedures.DutiesPerforms high quality Breast Imaging procedures using digital equipmentDigital quality assurance that meets mammography accreditation standardsScreening and diagnostic mammographyBreast interventional proceduresRespectful communication with patients and team membersOngoing commitment to continuing education that meets CAR and hospital requirementsParticipate in teaching and performing duties related to the job classification, as requiredPossibility of rotating to other Breast Imaging Corporate sites and working overtime, as requiredMinimum RequirementsCurrent registration with the CMRTO and fulfilling the annual required continuing education as per CMRTOCurrent membership with the CAMRTPrevious Breast Imaging working experience with successful completion of Mammography 1 and 2 certificates from CAMRTCompleted over 15 hours of continuing education in Mammography within the past 3 yearsCompletion of a BCLS program within the past 12 months or has current Level II: Basic Rescuer certificationAbility to work effectively and communicate respectfully within a supportive team environmentDemonstrate strong technical skills, multi-tasking, and utilize good judgementAbility to evaluate quality of work and use feedback to self-improveStrong written and verbal communication skills including relevant and accurate clinical documentationAbility to learn new skills, adapt to process changes, and participate in teaching new staff and studentsDemonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance historyEffective computer skills and must be able to review emails dailyDemonstrated knowledge/experience in Digital Mammography and Digital equipment quality control, preferredPrevious working experience at an OBSP Facility, preferredPrevious working experience at a CAR Mammography Accredited Facility, preferredPrevious breast ultrasound experience with DMS registration, preferredUHN offers a wide range of benefits, programs, and perks, making it a differentiating factor, allowing you to find value where it matters most to you.Competitive offer packagesGovernment organization and a member of the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)Close access to Transit and UHN shuttle serviceA flexible work environmentOpportunities for development and promotions within a large organizationAdditional perks (multiple corporate discounts including travel, restaurants, parking, phone plans, auto insurance discounts, on-site gyms, etc.)Current UHN employees must have successfully completed their probationary period and have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance in accordance with UHN's attendance management program to be eligible for consideration.All applications must be submitted before the posting close date.
