A Day in the LifeTeam is working hybrid and position will be onsite in OHQ, Fridley MN 3 days/week.

Become part of the Global Functions FP&A team to support the Global HR function. Manage a $200M+ expense budget– from cost center management to preparing Annual Operating Plan and the long-range strategic plan, your FP&A skills will be fully utilized and developed.

This position will partner with the HR leadership team and Global Functions Finance team to ensure the HR business and financial goals are met.

This role will support all aspects of financial management, including expense analysis, month-end/quarter-end close, reporting & presenting results, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), capital expenditure requests, forecasting and the annual strategic plan.

The Principal Analyst for HR stands as the primary point of contact for complex areas of the HR Corporate function, exercising considerable latitude in determining deliverables of assignments, with limited oversight from manager. They contribute to defining the direction for the HR function, with a significant impact on function results. They identify problems, then develop and implement solutions. They take on additional projects, collaborate with the broader Global Functions team, and coach and train less experienced staff as needed. This person has a broad knowledge of financial concepts in general and those specific to Medtronic and manages their work independently.

Responsibilities

Ownership of financial modeling, forecasting, AOP, scenario planning, and business partnering ensuring that deadlines and targets are met.

Manage financial fiduciary responsibilities, including:

Month end-close – process monthly journal entries, account reconciliations.

Assist cost center managers with both standard and ad hoc reporting needs.

Project set-up and maintenance – own and manage project structure.

Capital requests – Capital Asset Request tracking and review, Construction in Process tracking and review.

Non-GAAP – tracking and controlling non-GAAP spend if applicable.

AOP: Global planning system data load and reconciliation to target, scenario planning, provide insight into year/year changes in the organization (+/-) to help leadership invest.

Prepare, deliver, and present monthly financial results for Global Functions and HR Management on a timely basis. Ensure the accuracy of the data.

Develop ad hoc reports to support analyses. Work on special requests, projects, and financial presentations for management as required.

Maintain, troubleshoot, and potentially develop new finance processes and reports.

Familiar with and adherence to, Medtronic’s Accounting Policies.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting (Or Advanced Degree with 5+ years).

Nice to Have:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or MBA.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Experience with GFS, Essbase, and/or SAP.

Accounting experience and knowledge of GAAP.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills including the ability to identify key trends and drivers and the proven experience translating financial data into meaningful, concise information.

Experience operating in a matrixed environment and interacting across levels and organizations.

Ability to develop solutions and/or innovative ideas to problems and ensure that solutions are consistent with the organization’s objectives.

Ability to interface in a global team environment with various levels of management, staff, and other functional areas.

Strong organizational and people skills with interests in building strong business partnering relationships.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $103,200.00 - $154,800.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
